Q: My name is Steven [Omitted Last Name]. I am an aging fitness instructor in [Omitted City, State] who has uncovered two extremely simple ways to rapidly restore a tremendous amount of strength, flexibility and mobility to millions of older and disabled people. The whole body one uses a deep pool while wearing a life jacket, the other revives old legs in a hot tub.
I'm not trying to get rich off of this because these are not real products, I just want help park a million walkers and wheelchairs. I do have a little book of around 100 other powerful water exercises that I also invented, which can be downloaded. This is only to generate income to run and promote the site.
It seems that the Pool and Hot Tub industries will help but I need to figure out the most cost effective way to teach this to the world, before I ask them for the bucks. I have just built a website.
[Omitted Website] provides free instructions and Pdf. printouts on these two powerful and relaxing exercises. I read your site and realized that you could be a great advisor.
Your suggestions would be highly valued. I do not want to waste a dime. Thank you
PS I wound not have bothered you if not for the site saying: "This site is for sharing unbiased expert advertising advice, so send us your questions and we'll answer them personally."
Any help you can offer could help many people leave their walkers and wheelchairs at home. Thanks
A: I think you're off to a good start with the free instructions and PDF's. Giving things away is a great way to attract people to the site and build a trusting relationship with them.
I'm not entirely sure I understand where you intend to make money from your idea other than your book of 100 powerful water exercise. Is another way to generate revenue planned? Or will the book be the only money maker on the site?
One thing you can do to build interest and trust is add a blog to your site. Blogs are relatively easy to install and require no special knowledge to add new content. I recommend WordPress for it's simple installation and flexibility in customizing. With a blog you could easily publish new articles and exercises, which can help to bring people back for more instruction as well as build a trusting relationship with them. It will also help to show your authority on the subject which will later help you sell your book as well as any other informational product you later decide to offer.
If it's traffic to the site you're looking for, learning and practicing the basics of search engine optimization (seo) is a good idea. The details of seo can sometimes be confusing, but the basics are fairly easy to understand and will work in the long run. For a good basic tutorial take a look at SEO
Basics Tutorial. It's something I wrote for people knew to search engine optimization to give them a solid foundation from which to build.
I think the keys for you as I understand what you're trying to achieve are to establish trust with visitors to your site and offer what you can freely. I think you've already started this and adding a blog could be the next step. Look also into learning the basics of search engine optimization to help bring traffic to your site.
I hope all of the above was helpful and please feel free to ask more questions if you have any.

Q: I wrote the book to help support the website but the catch 22 is the website has to first support the book. I am not looking at this to pay my bills, I just think that a chance to help millions of folks is to cool to pass up.
I will now become a blog. Thanks for your help. I have been learning about meta tags and optimization but for a muscle head this is a bit out of my comfort zone.
A: One of the things you'll find online that the best way to succeed is often to build up an audience first and only later sell to them. It can be a catch 22, like you say, since we all need to bring in some revenue in order to keep going. But with so many choices online it's important to have some quality content that makes people want to come back and back again.
It sounds like you already have some good content to offer. Anything that provides value of offers something useful is quality content.
With SEO try not to get caught up in thinking a few minor changes here or there will make a difference. For example meta tags are not all that important anymore. You still want to write a unique meta description for each page, but many top SEOs don't even bother with meta keywords anymore. It's ok to add them, but not worth spending more than a couple of minutes writing them.
Your best bet is to focus on providing unique quality content. Write optimized page titles by using keywords toward the front of the page title. Don't get caught up in tying to squeeze in every possible keyword you can on the page. Search engines are more sophisticated today and believe it or not prefer pages that don't look like they've been optimized at all. Write your content for your visitors first.
You also want to get other sites to link back to your site. Look for sites in industries related to your topic and try to get them to add a link to your site. Any site for senior citizens or dealing with fitness would be good sites to have link back to yours.
All the information about search engine optimization can be a lot to sort out, but if you can get past the idea that it's about there being a sort of magic formula and realize it's more about time and effort you can cut through a lot of the garbage information. Unfortunately there's a lot of garbage information circulating. Try to think of SEO in similar ways to traditional marketing. You're looking to attract targeted traffic to your site and looking to network to get word out that you exist.
